Scotts Engineer Thumbs

Well i've done a wonderful job of stumbling along on these thus far without much sucess. But here's two i've managed to come up with. I wanted to have more of these, but a surprise root canal held me up a bit today. It's a goblin engineer either a: working on a mechanical bug thingy. or b: releasing his newly made creation into the air. Either way, let me know what you think.

  1. I think I would go for the first one, I like the idea of a guy making this in his lab, and you can get so awesome lighting for the piece. I think you should make the bug robot thing take up more of the image, giving it a bit more of an extreme perspective, kinda like one of Bill Thomson's paintings.

  2. I am more drawn to the first one as well, although I'm sure the second one would be cool too. I agree that the robot could be larger - more in the foreground. I really want to be able to see what that thing looks like (and force you to really design the thing :p ). Think about what the mechanical bug is for - presumably it does more than fly around and pester people like a normal bug. Is it a spy? Does it carry venom? The goblin engineer is a fun twist. Be sure to give him plenty of details to define his character (but I know you're probably already thinking about that stuff). I'm excited to see what you come up with!

  3. Thanks guys! yeah my thumbnails are always a pile of mush. I will make sure to design the heck out of him and the bug especially. I was thinking it would have some sort of stinger and a glowing liquid in its thorax...just need to draw out some designs.
