Recharge!

I just finished this today.  Although I've painted dragons before, they had never been the focus of the painting/ good.  I'm happy with the way this came out.  I hope the element of addiction comes across.  I wanted it to look like the dragon needs lightning in an unhealthy way; the old bent spears and such melted to his skin.

Recharge!, 11" x 14", Oil on Paper on Masonite, 2010.

  1. Looks great!!! I really love the colors in this, and the lightning works well. I'm definitely getting the feeling that he needs the metal and such. The colors also contribute to that feeling.

I still think the tail is too big but i understand that you wanted it in the foreground for the story and feeling of addiction. the legs look much better! overall i think it looks great

  2. Sweeet! Your handling of the light and color really makes the lightening look bright!

At this point, my only comment would be that the seam that is running around the tail (the coiled part) seems a little weird. I would imagine it to be more like bumpy ridges, but that's just me :)

    Good job!!!
