So I only have two thumbs, because I became pretty set on the 2nd one! :P
It's going to be a scene around dusk, and like Owen's, at the unicorn's feet and the trail behind it, there will be glowing plants growing (it's a unicorn thing, you know) and the unicorn will also be glowing!
Yeah I would say I like the 2nd one most also, good pose. I think in the foreground, silhouetted or whatever, it would be cool if there were some fairies or forest creatures in the trees. It seems a bit lonely right now, but I dig the idea, very subtle and comforting.
I think they'd both be great! Depending on what sort of story you want to be telling, having other creatures in the woods would be a nice touch. When I look at these, I wonder if this is a friendly, safe forest, or a dark and dangerous one? In some of my reading on unicorns, they live in enchanted forests where all of the creatures are kept safe from harm (like hunters) - that sounds like a happy forest! But, it would also be neat to have a murky forest with dark creatures lurking, and this glowing unicorn bringing light and life. Whatever angle you take on it, I'm sure it'll be cool :)
Yea, #2 is nice! I also like the idea of putting some hidden creatures in the foreground area. Kinda like the more you look at it the more hidden things you see.
We are five illustrators on a mission to create lots of good art, and to invite lots of feedback, so that we can create even better art! We will regularly post assignments, then post our progress and critique each other - and you can critique us too! We love feedback! Our names are Scott Murphy, Owen Weber, Rebecca Solow, Elisabeth Alba, and Craig Maher.

ReplyDeleteOoo I like that idea, Owen, thanks! I dunno why I didn't think of adding other creatures, especially silhouetted in the trees, weee
